On Wednesday, October 22nd, we had the pleasure of hosting a\u00a0<\/span>Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>crew at Lake Savica, where we filmed a segment about eDNAture<\/strong>, talking about recent developements in the company.<\/p>\n

During the shoot, we demonstrated how\u00a0<\/span>just a single drop of water<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>can reveal the full\u00a0<\/span>biodiversity<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>of a lake, river, or wetland. This is made possible by our\u00a0<\/span>innovative method of environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

eDNAture is the result of years of scientific research and innovation and is now in the\u00a0<\/span>third round of the Nuqleus accelerator<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 a prestigious program for\u00a0<\/span>deep-tech companies<\/strong>.
And what is deep tech?
These are technologies born from scientific and academic research \u2013 like biotechnology, artificial intelligence, or quantum computing \u2013 that bring\u00a0<\/span>radical innovations<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>to society and industry. What is eDNAture?<\/h3>\n

eDNAture<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is a Croatian biotech company that uses\u00a0<\/span>environmental DNA metabarcoding<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>to identify all animal species living in water\u2014without needing to capture, see, or disturb them.<\/p>\n

When animals inhabit a body of water, they leave behind\u00a0<\/span>genetic traces<\/strong>\u2014skin cells, mucus, waste, eggs\u2014which we collect through water sampling and analyze in our lab. Within just a few days, we can detect even the\u00a0<\/span>most elusive species<\/strong>, including those that are rare, protected, or nocturnal. These methods enable single-target (eDNA) or multiple-target (metabarcoding) detection of any life forms from bacteria to mammals.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]
